Tell us a bit about your bead store’s design. What’s the greatest inspiration behind your bead store?

We are a full service bead shop, as opposed to specializing in one area. We try to provide the customers with as many choices as possible. We are both metalsmiths, so we are also a jewelry supply shop.

What made you decide to open a bead store?

We are both avid jewelry artisans, and 14 years ago we gave up our day jobs, had a family and opened a store.

Do you have a specific product that your store is known for?

We are known for our extensive seed bead and Native American supply selection, our jewelry supply (metals, chain, wire, tools and ?ndings in numerous ?nishes), huge stone selection, steampunk supply and basically having the coolest stuff around!

Do you offer classes? What is your most popular class?

Yes - wire wrapping and metal smithing classes probably.

What do you think are some of the biggest change in bead trends in the last 5 or 10 years?

The move away from sterling and gold to alternative metals (bronze, iron, copper, etc.) and a mixed media approach to jewelry construction, as opposed to work made primarily from bead weaving or stringing.

As an artist and not just a bead store owner, what is your favorite material/style that you use?

I love to incorporate leather and copper into seed bead or stone jewelry.

Do you have any other passions/hobbies outside of beading?

Sure - we love to travel, though we don’t always have enough time to do so running a busy shop. We both spend most of our free time with our children and dogs doing something fun outdoors.
