Carnelian is found mostly in Brazil and Uruguay. It is a translucent chalcedony that receives it's beautiful red tints from iron oxides. The sand-blasted matte finish gives carnelian an elegantly soft frosted look. Historically ancient Greeks and Romans particularly valued Carnelian and believed that it could calm bad tempers or still the blood.
